I read somewhere that practice with a focus on what you are learning as opposed to the results is a more effective method to improve. I think I have always been naturally inclined to work in this way which has left me with stacks of sketchbooks full of half finished drawings. It also has a downside as I look over my work now and find very few really good finished work to show for all my time. Oh well, I am typically happy just to create art.

I think this drawing is beautiful even if you think the guy is not appealing. I guess that's the key in drawing, quantity over quality and at some point the good things will rise!
Nicely done! You've referred to this new method before. And I believe you said it was Nupastel. Do you mind sharing how you go about the technique?
Yeah, Steve I will try to get a play by play in my next drawing session so I can post the steps.
A Step by Step would be awesome. I really love your work.
Drawings like these often feel so much more alive than many fully polished and rendered pieces.
not only is the figure well rendered, but i really like the loose feel of the drawing. i think i prefer this over your more "finished" figure drawings, it has so much character.
Great artwork!
This is fantastic . . . I could look at a whole book of work like this and never get bored.
This is a beautiful picture. The beautiful girl/beautiful body sort of thing is so boring and over done. This has character, reality and a story. It is definitely not another caryatid. A face and body that have lived is so much more interesting.
