Wyeth

I always liked CF Payne's version of this. I hope to find some time eventually to fully paint this but the rough drawing stage has a nice wild feeling to it, so I thought why not post it.

I loved this C F Payne illustration so much that while in art college I bought a coat just like Andrew Wyeth's in this picture. I also did an artist study on it but soon realised I was no good with coloured pencils.

I actually studied under C.F. Payne. He paints in acrylics almost as much as he uses colored pencils. He layers his materials in an interesting way, for sure.

Another person who liked Payne's portrait of Wyeth was Wyeth himself. This was in his personal collection when he died (and Wyeth is not an easy man to please).

That's beautiful. I love the energy of your line work and I agree - I like the rough look for this. Thanks for posting great inspiring things here. I've really enjoyed looking around.
