Figure drawing #5

At Avalanche we have a weekly figure drawing session. This is my results this week, I am fairly pleased with it. More than any other medium, figure drawing feels like chasing a carrot, I never am totally happy but it always feels like I am just on the brink of really doing a good drawing.

Very nice . . . what did you draw this with, and is this newsprint?

Thanks Jason, This is Nupastel on 18"x24" white drawing paper. Actually I've been doing an underdrawing with vine charcoal which works well to get the drawing basic structure down lightly, then I can do the colored Nupastel over the top. I used to get a lot of messy lines early in the drawing while I searched for the right structure now you cant see them.

Well said. Chasing carrots is hard work. I don't think I could have put better myself.

great job Dave!
such energy on this piece, nice balance between fine work (arms and shoulders) and rough on some other parts (the back for example). I dig this.
Bravo
