I have to agree with you. While I often (always) have trouble getting the eyes to match one another, if I get through a drawing without having to redraw the mouth from scratch more than three times I'm doing well.

I think taken individually, eyes, nose, and mouth are pretty easy to draw. The real trick is getting them all positioned and sized correctly relative to each other, which is something you do amazingly well. Good work Dave!
I will always believe the mouth is the most difficult part to draw. People always say its the eyes, no it is the mouth.

Beautiful sketch, and I can´t agree more with you, the mouth is the real challenge.

ReplyDeleteThis is why most of my characters have muppet mouths. And, I might say this mouth turned out very nice considering your difficulty with it.
