These sketches are so stylish. The hatching technique looks so spontaneous, but I bet your strokes are very carefully considered. How long does a sketch like this typically take?
Kelly, sure I remember you, even though we illustration guys got segregated off. Thanks for the compliment.
Anonymous, No it isn't really that carefully considered. I worked to get the spontaneous look long ago and it has become second nature now. I don't think about it really. This was probably 60-90 minutes the previous post is more like 2-3 hours.
I wonder if your table has a swivel as I noticed that your hatchings goes in different directions - or you just turn your pad as needed. Tones are so balanced. Love your work, man!
David, I think this May well be my favorite drawing ever. I saw this on Pinterest and managed to track it back to here. Your shading and hatching are amazing. Now that I've found your blog, I suspect I'll be finding lots more favorite sketches very soon. Thank you for the joy.
Godless, Thanks a lot. I appreciate the kind words. I am becoming a big fan of Pinterest to peruse large amounts of art. I've got a link on the right of my Pinterest page.
