You may be starting to feel like your visiting Anne Geddes' blog by now but what can I say I like to draw my kids. I really do like the endless source of reference. This is my little boy, middle name Wyeth (after N.C) by the way (Mucha was too exotic).
Sketchbook drawing 9"x12" using a .3 B lead mechanical pencil.
I love how your great line work just draws the attention to those big beautiful eyes. Great drawing!
ReplyDeleteYou don't communicate toying disrespectfully playing with toddler-toys, so you are good on the Geddes front. :)
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how darling you draw the children even with all those lines! I love how the lines are so directional too, they go so well with the playfulness of the child's expression!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteI filled entire sketchbooks with my daughter:)
It's a good exercise, considering they can't stand still for more than one second.
So much so that I can't deny sometimes I had to cheat a bit by taking short videos and drawing from the still frames:(
Wow, that looks so good. He is so adorable.
ReplyDeletei am wondering, are you drawing your kids from photos or from real life? how does that work exactly, i mean by the time i make the second sketch line the pose i was trying to draw is long-long gone and i am left to drawing pretty much out of memory...
ReplyDeletemucha may be exotic, but damn he could draw! his little museum here in prague is amazing. anyways, "mucha" in czech means a "fly" (the insect) so its not much to be disappointed about as far as names i gues...
erik
erik, yes photos are the only way to go with these little kids, unless their sleeping. I probably like to draw my kids because I know their look and personality and feel like I know what I am trying to capture.
ReplyDeleteI can't say how much I love your drawings and your children are beautiful little inspirations. My son's middle name is Wyeth also! Nicholas Wyeth! My Wyeth of choice was N.C. Good call - great name!
ReplyDeleteAaah yes I should specify, N.C. was definitely the reference for us as well.
