This is not a painting

Well, things got more complicated last week with the birth of our first daughter. Actually she is (obviously) beautiful, but a handful that didn't come with an off switch, so I will have to work harder to find time for my artwork. She will surely be a good muse as she grows and her artist mother and I are already teaching her the basics of color theory, composition using the Golden mean, chiaroscuro, fat over lean, etc. She will be an uber-artist.

  9. I know what you mean. My 10 month old daughter already knows the anatomy of a cast shadow and has had extensive time studying reflection and refraction. Yours is super cute. I have another on the way and literally paint at night when the house is sleeping. It's the only way since I work full-time. Enjoy every moment.

  10. Wonderful for you and Natalie. This is where the test of your real creativity begins - figuring out how to fit in painting now. Life will definitely be different from here on out.

  12. Congrats Dave! Are you sure you're old enough to be having kids?

Yes, I'm sure she'll grow up to be an uber-artist... or a country music star.

  14. Congrats Dave! You are correct, Sir, she is beautiful. You are going to have a ball. Once babies realize they're not going to die at every second of the day they become quite enjoyable. Watch out for when she first smiles. You'll truly be wrapped around her tiny little finger.

  18. Congratulations!
Mmmmm...my own experience tells me she'll love being a wrestler, or an actress, or an economist, before trying art....

In any case, welcome aboard, and say farewell to your free spare time!

  20. Your daughter is so blessed to have artists as parents. My daughter Sarah is 3 now and her skills as an artist are mind blowing. You should see the way she defends it. One day I tried to make a suggestion to her and she silenced me with a 'talk to the hand' gesture. I'm glad she did too. That painting has been on the refrigerator for a year now. It's beautiful.
