I think this will be my inaugural insect post. A sketchbook drawing pencil on paper maybe 4".
While visiting Prague and the
Alphonse Mucha museum, I saw a breathtaking pencil drawing he had done of berries and leaves. It was so simple but so well done and meticulously detailed. I tried to follow that lead with this bug but my lines are nowhere near as perfect as Mucha's.
That's one of the most inspirational museums I've been to... Love the blog, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteBugs are cool. Nice sketch.
ReplyDeleteJust ridin' through...
ReplyDeleteBugs?
Hmm...why not?
Love your landscape. Looks like a great background for one of your wonderful figures in black.
Hi Dave, it´s me, Fernando Raposo from Brazil. For a long time I did not come here to see your drawings.I am still impressed about the quality and the difficult of your Technical Drawings. You are amazing artist. I like very much your trace and I have a little question about the softwear that you use to make your works.
ReplyDeleteWich program do you use to aplly your technical drawing?
I am waiting for your answer.
Bye!!!
Coolio bug drawing! Love the sketchbook drawing below too!
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't seen that drawing by Mucha, but I hardly believe that it was so much better than yours. Your lines are always absolutely good.
ReplyDeleteIf I can (humbly) give you a suggestion, you seem a bit too "cautious", "over-controlled", sometimes it's good to let oneself go, both in the subject and in the tecnique (I like your "skeleton" drawing). Or maybe you don't post your "daring" works... :)
its a superb study!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the comments.
ReplyDeleteFernando- these drawings are done in my sketchbook using a .3 lead mechanical drafting pencil. Then I just scan it in and use Photoshop to raise the levels a little to darken and thats it.
Mario-trust me its much better, thanks for the advice I'll try to apply it.
Nice one! That's one ugly, cool looking bug!
ReplyDeleteNice drawing !!!. It seems a very little one. I like your line drawings. Regards.
